Millennial Pink

Millennial Pink is the ultimate colour for the summer. It’s currently the most popular shade worldwide so naturally, we need it in our beauty arsenal too. The colour comes in softer shades, as well as bold shades, so you can transition between day and night and occasions. The best part is, it’s universally flattering which means no matter your skin tone, this colour will suit everyone.

Good lippies to go for are:

  • Bobbi Brown Luxe Matte Colour Lipstick in True Pink (R525)
  • MAC Frost Lipstick in Angel (R250)
  • blackUp Glossy Liquid Lipstick (R370). Available at Edgars Beauty
  • Clinique Long Last Soft Matte Lipstick in Petal (R325). Available at Edgars Beauty

Pale Purple

We know purple lip colours are usually reserved for autumn but luckily purple is easy to transition into summer. Swop out your deeper, wine-stained lippies for a pale purple lip colour which will brighten up your look. Pale purple can be a little ‘shocking’ but if you use a darker lip liner, this will tone down the colour.

Pale purple lippies to try:

  • Urban Decay Cream Vice Lipstick in TWITCH (R255)
  • MAC Matte Lipstick in Lavender Jade (R250)
  • Stila Colour Balm Lipstick in BECKY (R335). Available at Woolworths

Coral/Orange

Coral and orange lipsticks scream summer! The brightness and juiciness of this colour make it an essential item for every make-up bag. Wearing a coral lip colour is a great way to switch up from red lipstick. The colours range between peachy tones to darker orange colours. If the colour is too strong for you, you can opt for sheer textures for a more subtle look.

To embrace corals try:

  • Lancôme L’Absolu Gloss Matte Lipstick in Rouge Artiste (R380). Available at Edgars Beauty
  • Chanel Rouge Coco Shine Lipstick in Poppy Orange (R615). Available at Edgars Beauty and Woolworths stores)
  • Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Liquid Lipstick in Passionate Peach (R325). Available at Edgars Beauty

Cherry Red

Every girl needs at least one red lippie. Red is one of those colours that we can rock year round and cherry red is the go-to for summer. It’s vibrant and not to mention the added confidence boost you get when you wear the perfect red lipstick.

Try:

  • Givenchy Le Rouge-À-Porter in Vermillion Creation (R416). Available at Edgars Beauty
  • Estee Lauder Pure Colour Envy Matte Sculpting Lipstick in Volatile (R470). Available at Woolworths and Edgars Beauty
  • Clarins Joli Rouge Velvet Lipstick in Spicy Chili (R365). Available at Edgars Beauty

Nudes

Let’s face it, nude lipsticks are ALWAYS a good idea! No matter the time, place or event, we love a good nude lippie. They’re versatile and come in a variety of shades for different skin tones so there’s a shade for everyone.
