About
If you’re looking for a relaxing weekend with your loved ones, then head off to the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens. The Garden is home to more than 198 bird species. There are also a number of reptiles and small mammals, such as the duiker.  Walk through the tree wisteria (Bolusanthus speciosus) avenue. Look at special collections of medicinal plants, cycads, aloes, tree species, succulents and natural ridge vegetation. Find green lawns with trees spreading their shade in the summer. Enjoy aloe collections that blaze into flower during winter. This is a great outdoor adventure that will keep the whole family entertained.

Stunning picturesque park kept in pristine condition. At the waterfall eagles fly overhead, they seem to have a nest there. There are many trees from which to get shade if it starts to heat up. If you prefer not to take a picnic there's a lovely restaurant to fill your rumbling tummy after your long walk through the park.

  • Completed a 9km hike and it was amazing. It was kinder moderate. The only negative for me is that the hike trail has almost no makings. I felt safe and will definitely do it again. The picnic lawns are amazing. Lots to experience.

  • I love this place. Has been too long since we have been there. A highly recommended family outing. One of the most beautiful botanical gardens I have ever visited. Make sure you bring your walking shoes as you will be walking all over. The waterfall is stunning especially after good rains. Then after that you follow the river back to the entrance through the fairy forest. Cannot wait for the chance to visit again. You are seriously missing out if you have not been there.

  • Great place for Sunday picnics. Beautiful scenery. Very relaxed with good walking trails and of course the waterfall in all its glory. The black eagles can occasionally be spotted circling above. A couple of notes. Entrance is now R55 per adult. No balls or Frisbee's allowed. Bathrooms are clean and easily accessible. A must for a great family day out

  • Beautiful gardens! A very tranquil and enjoyable experience to walk around... that is if there aren't too many people around... not everyone respects others in the gardens enough to be quiet enough for a good time. So if you decide to go and you like to enjoy nature to its full extent, make sure to go when you know not too many people will be around. Inside they also have a restaurant that I would really recommend visiting... you'll be able to enjoy their excellent meals while enjoying the scenery.
